“Let everyone who believes that Israel has a right to exist burn!”
“Israel has no right to exist. If you believe Israel has a right to exist, then you have no right to exist!”
“People in Gaza want only one thing – to be happy seeing this” – caption under a video showing rockets killing Israeli civilians. [1]
These are all public statements by Sanad Abu Assaf – a Jordanian citizen, leader of a pro-Palestinian movement who has lived in Warsaw for three years. He is an organizer and speaker at dozens of demonstrations. He took part in a protest during which the Israeli embassy was attacked, and in riots at the University of Warsaw where campus guards were assaulted and one had his hand cut. [2]
He is co-author of dozens of posts together with people such as Dr. Ahmed, Emil Al-Khawaldeh, Nina Michnik, Gábor Máté, Adam Black, and Thiago Avilia from the “Freedom Flotilla,” as well as with groups like the Poznań branch of the Razem party, FFIPP Poland, the Kefijah collective, Academy for Palestine, Journalistic Collective, Plakaciary BDS Jordan, Europe Palestine Network, and the Cactus Initiative. [3] This group – legal experts supported by large NGOs such as the Nomada Association – filed reports to the prosecutor’s office and sent letters to government officials together with Sanad.
Sanad co-organized the campaign “Queers for Palestine,” where Polish queer influencers posed with Palestinian symbols. He was also involved in an attack on a transportation company’s equality platform during the Warsaw Equality Parade by anti-Israel demonstrators. This happened shortly after he publicly wrote that everyone who believes Israel has a right to exist should burn. [4]
Let’s take another look at the first sentence of that statement. Sanad’s full post read: “Let every Zionist burn, let everyone who believes in Israel’s right to exist burn.”
This is a call for murder — in fact, genocide of countless people — millions, maybe even billions. It also puts an end to all the excuses from antisemites who claim that when they attack Zionists and Zionism, they only mean the Israeli far right. No — “Zionism” simply means recognizing the Jewish right to self-determination. And for that, the leader of the Polish pro-Palestinian movement, a collaborator with some of the world’s top pro-Palestinian leaders, wants to burn countless people.
While Sanad was writing his calls for genocide, Jordan was intercepting missiles aimed at murdering Israeli civilians and destroying their homes. This must have deeply upset Sanad. At that time, he also wrote: “Fuck Jordan, fuck Arabs, fuck Poland, etc.” [5] Perhaps—showing some empathy for the emotions of this man (who calls for genocide)—one might think he was going through some crisis and wrote these things as a result. Unfortunately, no. He wrote them and did not delete them, and his entire previous activity shows that he has always called for the same.
Sanad’s profile features a red triangle—which he often displays and even has tattooed—a symbol of hatred representing Hamas’s targets for destruction (not only military ones but primarily Jewish civilians). He made clear that he uses it in this meaning by posting a picture of a red triangle breaking the Star of David — an international symbol of Jews, not only Israel. The same symbol Nazis used to mark Jews during the Holocaust. [6]
He also published a graphic created by Hamas featuring the same triangle—this time referring to Jordan—and a quote from Hamas’s “Goebbels,” Abu Obaida. [7]
He posted a selfie proudly wearing a sweatshirt with the slogan: “If they don’t call you antisemitic, you’re not fighting for Palestine hard enough,” along with a red triangle. [8]
Two other posts are also significant — one with the quote:
“A Palestinian is a civilian, even when armed, they are a resistance movement. An Israeli is a colonizer, even if resting on the beach,”
and another saying: “Colonialism won’t let go until you put a knife to its throat.” [9]
On the subject of knives and calls to kill, he also wrote:
“If you see my hands empty, give me a weapon; if you can’t find one, give me a knife.” [10]
Of course, regarding the “resistance movement,” Sanad repeatedly supports Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and other factions responsible for the killings on October 7, attacks on civilians, and thousands of rockets fired at Israel. He publishes their propaganda graphics. He doesn’t limit himself to Palestinian terrorism — he also promotes the leader of the Japanese Red Army, an organization that carried out a massacre of civilians at an airport and other terror attacks in the 1970s. [11]
Sanad also co-organized a march in November 2024, where portraits of terrorists (including Hamas members) were honored and the Palestinian flag was raised alongside the flag of Islamist Iran. [12]
Groups and individuals working with him, giving him a leadership and spokesperson role, cannot claim ignorance of his extreme antisemitism, support for terrorism, and the fascist dictatorship of Hamas.
They simply do not mind — or are even impressed by it. This is not the first such case, but another brick in the wall that this environment builds to separate itself from real help for Palestinians, their self-determination, and just peace. By siding with antisemitism, terrorism, and Islamism — which sacrifices Palestinian civilians and Palestinian self-determination just to kill as many Jews as possible.
A month after the October 7 massacre, he published this “poem”:
“And suddenly
A masked man approached us.
Behind him walked united clans and refugees, Muslims and Christians, from the far left to the far right, atheists and believers, soldiers and civilians.
He speaks, so we listen.
And suddenly.
He fills us with certainty,
That one day we will be one step away from a great victory.” [13]
This “poem” chillingly captures contemporary antisemitism — uniting the far left with the far right, Christians with Muslims, and so on. People listen to the propaganda of masked terrorists and follow their orders in a common march. To reach the “great victory.” What this victory means, Sanad made clear from the very beginning: burning Jews and everyone who sees Jews as human beings and does not deny their right to self-determination. Our response to this can only be one: Never again!
